Where there is love, there is life. This is certainly true for local Randalstown couple Mona and Eamon McCoy who will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary this year.

Mona and Eamon are the winners of Asda Antrim’s search to find some of the longest married couples from across the community this Valentine’s Day.

The couple, who met at a dance, married on 28th December 1963 – and raised their 8 children together, with the family growing to now include 21 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Mona and Eamon said: “We met at only 18 years old, and have never had a row! Laughter is definitely the best medicine when it comes to a long and happy marriage.

“We are really looking forward to celebrating our emerald wedding anniversary in December with our family and friends. It will be a wonderful day to look back on all the happy times we have shared together, and reminisce about our snowy wedding day all those years ago!”

Asda Antrim Community Champion, Barbara Logan, added: “We always look forward to seeing Mona and Eamon when they visit Asda Antrim for their weekly shop on a Friday. Their daughter, Paula, is an Asda Antrim colleague so there is always lots of laughter and fun when they are instore.

“I am so happy to be able to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the couple ahead of their big anniversary later this year!”
