Skills Northern Ireland, an interactive and inspiring careers, skills, jobs and apprenticeship event, is set to return to Belfast for the second time this October.
According to a recent report – Results for Life – published by the Prince’s Trust and HSBC, 43% of young people feel they’re not prepared to enter the workforce, with many worried they lack the confidence and skills to succeed – Skills Northern Ireland aims to address this.
Aimed at 14-19 year olds and the teachers, parents and influencers that help them make their future job and career choices, the event will connect talented young people with new opportunities across Northern Ireland.
Free to visit, the event will take place on 18th and 19th October in the Titanic Exhibition Centre, Belfast and is a one-stop shop for career opportunities in Northern Ireland with a wide range of employers offering apprenticeships in key industry sectors, universities and colleges on hand to discuss higher education, training providers and career guidance organisations.
Chris Kimmins, Business Development Manager at Skills Northern Ireland said: “We’re delighted to be bringing Skills Northern Ireland back to Belfast. Last year was extremely successful and this year we are positive that we will exceed 80 organisations, with over 8,000 pre-booked visitors expected to stream through the doors over the two days.
“For companies wishing to target young people as recruits, students, employees, apprentices, customers or their parents, families and teachers, then Skills Northern Ireland is the ideal platform for you to engage with them.”
Northern Ireland Electricity Networks sponsors the event, which offers learning through experiences. Gordon Parkes, HR Director, NIE Networks said: “Exhibiting at Skills Northern Ireland offers your organisation the opportunity to be part of a great event which brings together employers, colleges, training providers, universities and career sectors under one roof at one time, to engage with more than 8,000 motivated visitors.
Demonstrations and hands-on activities help visitors to focus on areas of interest, as well as encourage them to explore different routes into a vast range of career opportunities.
