This week sees Holywood art gallery, Black Canvas, launch the ‘Christmas 200 Art Exhibition’ featuring more than 200 original paintings by over 100 elite artists from across the UK and Ireland, each with a price ticket of just £250, in a bid to raise £10,000 for the Mary Peters Trusts’ race to a million campaign.

The exhibition will showcase many of Northern Ireland’s most established and well-known artists along with a carefully selected few from Southern Ireland and mainland UK – from Colin H Davidson, Paul Bell to Brian Ballard as well as some new, emerging talent.

Hugh Black, joint partner at Black Canvas said: “We are delighted to be launching our most exciting exhibition to-date, and all in aid of a fantastic cause.

“The Christmas 200 Exhibition offers our customers a very unique opportunity to purchase an original painting by some of the very best names in Northern Ireland – all for the cut-price figure of £250.00 – which is substantially less than these works would normally go for.

“What is also unique, is that we will not be revealing the artists of the paintings which we feel encourages the buyer to buy it because they love it, as opposed to investing in its future potential worth.”

Paul Evans, joint-partner of Black Canvas, continued: “Standardising the size and price allows some emerging and lesser known artists to sit side by side with some of the most established names in this show.

“Northern Ireland has some truly amazing artists, both emerging and established. This exhibition allows the quality of their work to speak for itself.

“With many of the artists exhibiting normally selling their work for substantially more, this is a rare opportunity to purchase an original painting by some top names. There is a huge variety of styles and taste to choose from, there really is something for everyone. We are also delighted that for every painting that is purchased, £50 will be going towards Mary Peters Trusts’ race to a million campaign.”

The aim of the Mary Peters Trust is to help aspiring young athletes in Northern Ireland realise their maximum potential by assisting them in both a financial and advisory capacity. The Race to a Million campaign aims to raise a million pounds so the charity can continue to financially support young sportsmen and women, able-bodied and disabled across Northern Ireland, for years to come.

The ‘Christmas 200 Art Exhibition’ will launch on Wednesday 22nd November at 6pm sharp at Black Canvas Gallery, 48c High Street, Holywood. To view all the works by Black Canvas, visit black-canvas.com.
